Privacy Policy

Camera

Used for real-time wine label scanning. Camera frames are transmitted in real-time to Google's servers (via Firebase AI / Gemini) for object detection, OCR text extraction, and barcode recognition. Images are processed server-side and are not stored permanently by WINE A BEE™. Google's data retention policies apply to data processed by their AI services.

Account

Email address and display name via Firebase Authentication.

Usage Analytics

In-app interaction events (such as scans, searches, chat actions, and quiz answers) are stored locally and may be synced to Firebase Firestore only when analytics consent is enabled. No personal wine preferences are shared.

Quiz & Learning

Quiz responses and progress scores are stored locally and synced to Firebase Firestore to track your learning progression across sessions within the Wine a Beecome academy.

Crash Reports

Device model, OS version, and stack traces via Firebase Crashlytics in release builds.

Local

Wine collection and scan history are stored in an on-device SQLite database encrypted with AES-256 (SQLCipher). The encryption key is stored in the device's secure keystore (iOS Keychain / Android Keystore). Sensitive preferences (name, wine profile) are separately encrypted using iOS Keychain / Android EncryptedSharedPreferences.

Cloud

Account profile, personal cellar entries, favorite store, recent scan history, PICOT assessment history, optional analytics events, quiz progress, and provisional community wine records may be stored in Firebase Firestore. User-specific records are scoped to your Firebase user ID where applicable.

Authentication, Firestore, Cloud Functions, Remote Config, Crashlytics, and App Check.

Google Gemini AI

Wine label analysis via Firebase AI SDK. Camera images and extracted text are transmitted to Google's servers in real-time for AI-powered label recognition, including visual object detection and text extraction. This occurs whenever you use the scanner feature. Google's AI data usage policy governs how Google processes this data.

API4AI (RapidAPI)

Wine bottle visual recognition. Images are sent via a server-side Cloud Function — your device never contacts API4AI directly.

Google Places / Google Maps Platform

Store search, map display, and optional location-biased search when you use favorite-store features.

Adapty

Paywall presentation, subscription status, trial and purchase handling, restore purchases, and subscription profile management.

Google Play Billing

Android subscription purchase processing.
